In particular, the declaration of a state of emergency issued from April to May 2020 has affected Japanese consumer lifestyles and has influenced store usage and product purchasing behavior . And as for the retail industry, there are some points that have become signs of capturing new demand triggered by these changes. This report analyzes sales trends in early 2020 for each retail category based on the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's \"Current Survey of Commerce\" and reviews the characteristics of these trends.
