This paper focuses on Akihiko Saiwai's production (Saiwai version) in the history of the Jyakushu Puppet Theater's performance of \"Hanaregoze Orin\" to clarify the characteristics of stage expression using puppets and shadows, and to examine the significance and effectiveness of character expression using shadows.
