Can curriculum, teaching and learning approaches be effectively transferred from one culture to another? In this paper I argue there are some educational commonalities within the tremendous cultural diversity, ways of knowing and sociocultural dynamics of learning. However, common characteristics of schooling have spread throughout the world effectively ignoring traditional ways of learning.
