While new marathon events are being created due to the continued popularity of marathons, there are a number of local governments that are deciding to eliminate them for various reasons such as the Heisei municipal amalgamation, economic burden and the creation of marathon courses. This research project selected Tour de Okinawa, whose participants have steadily increased over the recent years, as a case study, based on the hypothesis that the "diverse menu of competitive events, " was one of the factors which contributed to its success. The Tour de Okinawa features competitions that span vertically and laterally racing, cycling and cycling tours which showcase differences in the underlying purpose, which is a combination that is rarely seen in Japan. Based on over two years of interviews and participant observation of the event, the diverse make-up of the competitive events was found to have a positive effect of increasing the number of participants. The goal of this research is to create a general theory that is applicable to events in other regions by generalizing the Okinawa "chanpuru" model based on interviews with sponsors and participants., 3, KJ00007084879, 論文, Article}, pages = {29--50}, title = {「ツール・ド・おきなわ」参加者増加要因に関する研究 : 沖縄チャンプルーモデル}, volume = {19}, year = {2010}, yomi = {エトウ, ミツマサ} }
